Feature-based Geometric Dimension and Tolerance Modeling System

چکیده
This paper reports a complete system for modeling, representation, and validation of geometric tolerances, using feature-based approach from boundary representation (B-Rep) based solid models. The utility of feature based representation scheme for representing Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT) information in geometric models is highlighted. Explicit information from B-Rep is culled using feature extraction and recognition algorithms such as graph matching and form/design feature rules. The major objective is to develop a scheme necessary for interfacing the tolerance module with the solid model. This includes the development of a point-and-click graphic user interface that allows a user to select geometric or functional entities (face, axis, surface, datum, etc.). It validates the entity selection based on the context of the type of tolerance being defined, collects the controlled and controlling feature and numerical value(s) for the tolerance in question. This work also proposes, an apposite tolerancing model representation as part of the feature based geometric model that can be easily used by the downline manufacturing activities. The proposed schema provides built-in checking of validity of tolerances defined during modeling. Also, a scheme for over-toleranced and over/under dimensioning validity checking is introduced.

Semantic Tolerance Modeling with Generalized Intervals
A significant amount of research has been performed to explore the mathematical basis for dimensional and geometric tolerance representation, analysis, and synthesis. However, tolerancing semantics such as logical dependency among variations and sequence of specifications is not maintained in these models. Consequently, their numerical results are not interpretable. In this paper, a semantic to...

The objective of tolerance analysis is to check the extent and nature of variation of an analyzed dimension or geometric feature of interest for a given GD & T scheme. The parametric approach to tolerance analysis is based on parametric constraint solving. The accuracy of simulation results is dependent on the user-defined modeling scheme. Once an accurate CAD model is developed, it is integrat...
متن کاملIncluding Geometric Feature Variations in Tolerance Analysis of Mechanical Assemblies
Geometric feature variations are the result of variations in the shape, orientation or location of part features as defined in ANSI Y14.5M-1982 tolerance standard [ANSI 1982]. When such feature variations occur on the mating surfaces between components of an assembly, they affect the variation of the completed assembly. The geometric feature variations accumulate statistically and propagate kin...
متن کاملIntroducing a method for extracting features from facial images based on applying transformations to features obtained from convolutional neural networks
In pattern recognition, features are denoting some measurable characteristics of an observed phenomenon and feature extraction is the procedure of measuring these characteristics. A set of features can be expressed by a feature vector which is used as the input data of a system. An efficient feature extraction method can improve the performance of a machine learning system such as face recognit...
